The consulting offerings are modeled around a so-called Value Engineering methodology that closely aligns systems architecture to business process requirements using ARIS as an underlying platform.

They are also optimized for SAP environments – IDS Scheer is a close partner.

According to Dr Dirk Oevermann, who heads up consultancy at Saarbrucken-based IDS Scheer, the ARIS Value Engineering approach is considered particularly useful for planning SOAs,

An SOA usually begins with a company’s business processes. Companies can use AVE to start their SOA projects directly from process models.

The methodology defines the structures and functions of IT process services modules centrally in the ARIS repository and can be used by business applications like SAP (with whom IDS Scheer has a close partnership) for building an enterprise SOA, Oevermann explained.

To support data warehousing environments IDS Scheer has developed a new modeling product that helps companies to package up core elements of BI implementation – enterprise process, performance management and strategic and operational controls as standardized process components.

Our BI Modeler provides automatic re-documentation and design of all SAP Business Warehouse structures, Oevermann said.

IDS Scheer already has a strong consultancy practice for supply chain management. It is now complementing this with AVE-driven methods and tools for holistic supply chain process management, including specially crafted offerings for SAP SCM and SCEM environments.

IDS Scheer also unveiled new industry-specific BPM consultancy packages aimed at SAP, built on its ARIS SmartPath Suite.

They allow industry-specific SAP solutions [to be implemented] in a process oriented way and at a fixed price for SMEs in a short space of time.

IDS unveiled the consulting offerings at CeBIT 2007 last week.
