Oracle Corp agreed a joint marketing agreement with Sunnyvale, California-based Identix Inc to sell to Oracle customers a network security system based on fingerprint verification. The system is designed to be compatible with Oracle’s Secure Services Network software. Identix will use its TouchSafe II biometric identification unit as the key element: it has been designed for databank and computer network control applications to prevent theft, fraud or any otherwise unauthorised entry. Oracle’s Secure Network Services is an add-on package to the company’s SQLNet software. The TouchSafe concept has been around for the past several years but for Indentix the agreement Oracle is the most important in its history and represents the biggest exposure its technology has so far experienced. Identix Inc specialises in live-scan and biometric personal identity and verification systems for security applications and products for law enforcement that scan, analyse and transmit fingerprint images.
