IDEASSOCIATES ENHANCES PERFORMANCE OF ITS IDEACOMM 5250/REMOTE BOARD

By CBR Staff Writer

The UK end of PC-DOS add-on supplier IDEAssociates of Surbiton, Surrey has added two software features to its IDEAcomm 5250/Remote emulation card, which it reckons will make it outperform any other emulation product on the market. It also included a chart ‘for our information’ which compared similar 5250 products from IBM, AST and Emerald. However, it reckons it is impossible to guarantee the complete accuracy of the document and would not accept any responsibility for any action which may result following publication of this information, so it’s safest to ignore it. The new features, however, are of benefit to businesses that rely heavily on DisplayWrite/36 word processing applications. The 3180 Model 2 terminal emulation is now included so users can now view 132 column documents by scrolling and so access host applications which require 132 column format. A Text Entry feature for the 5294 is the other enhancement, allowing users access from remote locations to DisplayWrite/36 and Personal/36 applications on an IBM System 36 machine.
