IDB Communications Group Inc, Los Angeles, has firmed up its plan for a 50-50 joint venture with Canadian-owned Teleglobe International (US) Inc to market worldwide aeronautical satellite communication services to the airline and general aviation industries: a new company, IDB Aeronautical Communications Inc will be formed, and the pact is a direct result of Teleglobe’s purchase of a 20% stake in IDB; initial services will include passenger communications – such as advanced in-flight digital telephone, computer and facsimile services – as well as airline operations and cockpit data communications, and is to start operations by year-end.
