IBM UK Ltd’s Individual Computer Products International Ltd told the Financial Times that it has shipped about 12,000 units to resellers in the UK and France since June – we don’t know how many of those are still sitting on dealers’ shelves, and expects 50,000 to have reached resellers by the end of the year: assuming that dealers pay UKP500 on average, that represents an annualised UKP50m; Nippon Steel Corp’s Librex unit shipped 10,000 of its notebooks in the US and Europe – mainly the UK – before it decided the game was not worth the candle.
