ICL Plc, which by now had been planning to use Sparcs from its Ross Technology Inc cousin in its SuperServers before moving on to 64-bit Sparcs from HaL Computer Systems Inc, is now back to evaluating its options. It says the next major overhaul of its Sparc lines will be in the fourth quarter, when any decision on a new chip will be made. The UnixWare 2.0 implementation for Sparc is now also due by the end of the year. Meantime, ICL will upgrade its 66MHz TeamServer and SuperServer lines, which are also available with iAPX-86 parts, with 75MHz SuperSparcs, in May and June respectively.
