ICL Plc, which started taking high-end Unix servers from Pyramid Technology Corp in the fourth quarter of last year, has expanded its OEM agreement with the Mountain View company to cover the new top-end Nile Series servers, and will market the things outside North America. Pyramid looks to the agreement to increase its penetration of the mainframe-replacement market. Additional marketing and long-term technology collaborations are under discussion between the two companies. The MIPS Technologies Inc R4400 RISC-based Nile Series are symmetric multiprocessing DC/OSx Unix System V systems that come with up to 16 processors and is designed to be fault-resilient.
