A consortium led by ICL Plc is in line to win a 500m pound ten-year contract to provide the UK’s Customs and Excise with IT and telecommunications infrastructure. The ICL consortium, which includes Racal, Mitsubishi and Microsoft, will provide 24,000 staff with a desktop IT system designed to enhance its revenue, anti-drugs and trade statistics activities while improving the service to business and travelers. Final award of the contract, which needs government approval, is expected in the next few months.
