ICL Plc has launched work and asset management (WAM) software in collaboration with Severn Trent Systems, a UK firm which provides consultancy, software and services to enable utilities to improve operational efficiency.

The offering, aimed at utilities, combines ICL’s asset repository with STS’s work management application, STORMS. ICL’s asset repository for electricity, gas and water stores corporate knowledge about the network, with information on equipment, lines, pipes, connectivity, infrastructure and organization. ICL claims that the software will improve decision-making and increase efficiency through better access to management information.

The software is a result of the work that ICL and STS have done together since last April for Transco, the shipping and transportation division of British Gas Plc. Utilities are a significant sector for ICL. The firm claims that its customer list includes 66% of electricity companies and 60% of water companies.
