ICL Plc has acquired the Udb database and hub integration product from Kirkland, Washington-based Unified Information Inc. Unified will become a reseller of the product, and continue to sell its Aces energy scheduling software. ICL, an existing partner of the company, says it wants the product to strengthen its asset management strategy for utilities. Udb is a corporate repository for all information about a utility’s distribution network, and includes a real-world modeling facility. It is already in use by ScottishPower, Transco (the pipeline division of British Gas) and Yorkshire Electricity in the UK. ICL takes control of product development and direction, and will use the product in conjunction with its DINIS distributed system analysis and design modeling tool, IMS integrated mapping system and PC Map Access. Unified also has a partnership with the Power Systems Control division of Siemens AG for Udb and Aces.
