A multi-vendor personal computer maintenance and repair centre has been set up in Scarborough by Mike Shingler, former managing director of ICI Computer Systems Ltd. The company, called Care Micro Systems Ltd has been operating since October 1 and sets out to provide services ranging from on-site maintenance, with replacement units supplied if necessary, to repairs undertaken at the centre within a guaranteed five day period. Repairs will also be made on behalf of dealers for their customers. Target markets are medium-to-large sized companies. ICI Computer Systems, a computer dealership, was sold to major competitor Rossendale, Lancashire-based P&P Plc in February this year (CI No 1,857), Schingler was declared redundant and he decided to establish his own business in what he considers to be a relatively untapped market.
