Less than two years after its splashy launch, San Jose, California-based internet service provider @Bigger.com, which promised lifetime net access for $59.95, has filed for protection under Chapter 7 of the bankruptcy code. The company planned to make money off ads but the projected revenues never materialized. Already the vultures are circling the company’s still-warm carcass. ICG Netcom announced Thursday that its San Jose-based subsidiary Netcom Online Communications Services Inc is targeting the 40,000 subscribers left without access after @Bigger.net’s demise. Netcom offers @Bigger.com’s former customers their first month of service free, plus their $59.95 back in the form of a credit after the first six months of membership.
