Cincinnati, Ohio-based Intercomputer Communications Corp has introduced the ICC/VT/W, a Windows 3.0 multi-session VT220 emulator with both Com port and TCP/IP capability: initial TCP/IP implementations include Novell Inc’s LAN Workplace 4.0 and FTP’s PC/TCP version 2.05; within a single instance of the emulator, users will be given the option of using Com ports and Telnet communications simultaneously, and ICC/VT/W has the ability to respond to DDE messages as a server with applications like Excel and Word for Windows; it is compliant with Microsoft Corp’s DDE protocol specification and is compatible with other Intercomputer terminal emulation products; multiple file transfer protocols can be supported, and each can be executed to run as background tasks; other features included with ICC/VT/W are utility operations for screen-to-disk disk-to-screen functions, clipboard operations for copy and paste, phonebook for management of a series of numbers and configuration options, and Quick Install for configuration; a debugging feature enables users to watch in separate windows the communications stream in ASCII, HEX or DECIMAL, and these data streams can be stored into either binary or text file formats; it is available immediately for $175 per.
