Ads in Tuesday’s New York Times make it clear that IBM’s pricing on the PS/1 just isn’t keen enough: for IBM’s top price of $2,000 you can get an AST Research Premium 386SX with 1Mb, 1.2Mb floppy, 40Mb hard disk and VGA colour monitor; for $50 more than IBM’s bottom price you can get an Epson Equity II Plus or NEC Powermate 286 with 640Kb 80286, 1.2Mb floppy, 20Mb hard disk and VGA colour monitor.
