IBM’s KINGSTON VALEDICTORY DITTY

By CBR Staff Writer

Inspired by the closure of IBM Corp’s Kingston, New York facility, Hesh Wiener was moved to pen John Aker’s farewell, under the pseudonym H Bellyuppie, to the tune of Harry Belafonte’s Jamaica Farewell:

Down the way where the apples lay And the sums slide daily down the mountaintop, I took a trip on a sinking ship And when it reached John Akers It made a stop. But I’m sad to say I’m on my way Won’t be back for many a day, My stock is down, my profit’s run to the groun’ I had to heave the boys and girls out in Kingston Town.
