There seems to be an infallible tendency for managers of companies that receive big dollops of IBM Corp cash to cement a business relationship to take their eyes off the ball as soon as the cash is safely in the bank. Now Burlington, Massachusetts-based Easel Corp, whose Easel Workbench, which was due to ship this month, has been adopted by IBM as the environment for developing Systems Application Architecture Common User Access graphical user interfaces, says that the thing won’t now ship before sometime next quarter. The company says that it wants to ensure that it meets the quality and functionality standards of its other products before shipping. Although the company sees no significant effect on its second quarter figures, shareholders were caught on the hop and Easel shares slumped $2.50 to hit $16.75 on the announcement.
