Sources extremely close to the development of IBM Corp’s networked repository claim that it is close to production status and an IBM announcement is imminent. It is widely known that the new repository will run under AIX and OS/2, but it may surprise many that the thing is also up under OS/400 as well as Ultrix, HP-UX and Solaris Unixes, and that IBM has funded development work internally for these versions. Meanwhile, as was widely believed, work already done on Repository Manager/MVS has been scrapped and the thing is being rewritten from scratch so that it can integrate with the networked repository, but few expect that the development effort will survive the next round of cuts.
