One third of the total value of the contract, around $107m, is to be subcontracted to Capgemini, which will provide application migration and integration services. ComputerWire understands that IBM/Capgemini beat rival bids from Hewlett-Packard, as well as local vendors Getronics NV and Pink Roccade NV.

Both Getronics and Pink Roccade have existing contracts with UWV to supply network management and workstation management services respectively.

UWV was formed in 2002 by the merger of five separate insurance companies, whose individual data centers will now be merged into a single IBM facility. The contract represents one of IBM’s largest ever contract wins in the Netherlands, alongside other major awards from Essent, Shell and ABN AMRO.
