ICI Plc has signed IBM Corp to take over and run much of its information technology, speech and infrastructure services in Europe. Around 11,000 telephone and 7,000 computer users inside ICI use the services. The agreement involves 124 ICI staff and contractors transferring to IBM and follows the outsourcing of major parts of ICI’s communications networks to Racal Electronics Plc in 1994 and its mainframe operations to Philips Electronics NV company Origin BV last year.
