IBM will develop and maintain Arla’s IT infrastructure, and provide consulting services and facilities management. Some 130 employees from Arla’s IT department will transfer to IBM, which said the staff would continue to work at their current locations for the next 12 months. The deal kicks off on July 1.
IBM is the largest player in the Danish IT outsourcing sector having won deals with flagship clients including Carlsberg and Lego. It beefed up its presence in the country in 2004 with the acquisition of the largest indigenous IT services vendor, Maersk Data, which also gave it deals worth a combined $1bn with the company’s two owners, Danske Bank and AP Moller.
