By CBR Staff Writer

TelePad Corp has announced that IBM Corp will manufacture the new TelePad 3, a combination multimedia desktop, notebook and tablet computer that can be customised for the needs of specific field workers. The TelePad 3 features a modular device architecture developed by TelePad. Three removable modules accommodate hard disks, CD-ROM drives, video cameras, global positioning systems and a variety of mobile communications options. The TelePad 3 will be manufactured at IBM Corp’s electronic card assembly and test facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. The system incorporates IBM’s 3.3V clock-tripled Blue Lightning microprocessor. The chip supports processing speeds of up to 100MHz, with corresponding upgrades planned by TelePad.
