IBM Corp plans to upgrade its OS/2 Warp Server by adding new administration functions and Windows NT 4.0 access to the next version due out early in 1999. With the new release of Warp Server, which will go in to the beta testing at the end of this year, IBM claims users will only have to log on to one server to access all files, applications and printers, instead of having to enter the previously required multiple passwords and identifications to access information on multiple servers. The server, which acts as the entry-level server for running its e- business electronic commerce applications (CI No 3,408) will allow for the creation, updating and deletion of user accounts, passwords via the server’s graphical user interface or command line interface. The server will also offer support for Input/Output device drivers and adapters, as well as Ethernet and token ring networks. The server will be Year 2000 and Euro compatible.
