IBM Corp’s PC Company duly unveiled the IntelliStation Z Pro range of 200MHz Pentuim Pro-based NT workstations it promised earlier this month (CI No 3,120), and has gone to Intergraph Corp for the 3D graphics support on the four higher end models. While the two lower-end machines use the Matrox Corp’s Millennium 2D graphics card, IBM opts for the Intergraph Intense3D Pro 1000/T 3D graphics accelerator for the higher-end systems. The systems are aimed at commercial users of computer-aided design, digital media content, software development and financial services applications. An IntelliStation based on the Pentium II MMX- enabled chip is due next quarter. Prices range from $3,750 to $10,000, excluding the monitor.
