IBM UK SAYS CREATION OF APPLICATIONS SYSTEMS DIVISION AND CHANGES TO INFORMATION SYSTEMS GROUP WILL HAVE NIL EFFECT IN EUROPE

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM UK says that the effect in Europe of creation of the new Applications Systems Division and changes in mid-range marketing and Information Systems Group will be ‘nil’: the lab at Hursley, Winchester, which is responible for CICS, might be one of the five labs chosen for software evaluation and development outside the US but so might Vienna, Rome, Lidingo (Sweden), Sindelfingen (near Stuttgart) and a couple in the Far East; IBM UK also huffily insists that it already has a mid-range marketing group focus as do other European country operations – the fact that some guy in the US gets a new title doesn’t affect those at the working level in individual countries, it said.
