IBM may be placating AS/400 B10 and B20 users in the US with free 4Mb memory board loans (CI No 1,058), but there are no plans to introduce the scheme over here: according to IBM UK, very few of the machines sold have less than 8Mb of main memory, and to date, all AS/400s have been performing to spec; US users, it seems, have rather over-enthusiastic expectations of what minimal amounts of memory can do.
