We are still unconvinced that convoys of trucks criss-crossing the US and Europe day and night delivering AS/400s to eager customers for the rest of the year will be enough to give IBM a stunning fourth quarter if 3090 sales fail to meet ambitious targets, but there are certainly going to be some sleepless nights for those who live on the trunk routes that lead away from the plants where AS/400s are integrated: in the UK alone, we hear that IBM will be installing 50 of the things a working day in both November and December this year.
