IBM Corp has signed a strategic alliance with SPSS Inc for business intelligence tools on AS/400 platforms. The two will port and integrate the SPSS data analysis software onto the AS/400 for use alongside IBMÆs own Intelligent Miner data mining software. Both have also committed to ongoing research and development.
SPSS will do the development work and distribute the products, but IBM will help with both development and marketing. The first phase of the product will see SPSS software run on the AS/400 using the IPCS Integrated PC Server Intel cards, but later phases of the development project will include client/server versions that will be natively supported on the AS/400. The SPSS software will operate from start to finish on a single AS/400 box the companies said.
