IBM TO DELIVER VERSIONS OF SYSTEM OBJECT MODEL EARLY NEXT YEAR

IBM Corp is expected to start delivering early versions of its Object Management Group Common Object Request Broker Architecture-compliant DSOM Distributed System Object Model and SOM System Object Model, in the first quarter of next year on its operating systems, databases and software development tools. The two models are due up under AIX, Workplace Shell, OS/2, OS/400 and MVS. An SOM 2 toolkit, running on object frameworks and the Open Software Foundation’s Distributed Computing Environment has been available since August on both stand-alone and local network-based AIX and OS/2 systems, while a distributed version is due for release in 1994.
