IBM TAKES 49% OF ITALIAN FACTORY AUTOMATION VENTURE

IBM Italia has unusually taken the subsidiary role in a new joint venture to offer research services in the field of factory automation. The venture is with Mandelli SpA, which will have 51% of the new Studi e Progretti per l’Ingeneria della Fabbricca Automatica – SPRING – company, and IBM the balance. Based in Piacenza and aimed primarily at machine tool manufacturers, the SPRING will have about 100 staff.
