Where the company’s custom used to be to make all its announcements on a Tuesday, IBM has taken to making secondary announcements just before the weekend, and on Friday it put out a brief statement saying that it now had definitive agreement to part-fund the parallel supercomputer under development at Steve Chen’s Supercomputer Systems Inc in Eau Claire, Wisconsin – in order to speed the development. Not details on level of funding or the stake IBM gets were given.
