IBM Corp accompanied its new PS/2s with drastic price cuts ranging from 9.4% to 40.7% – but it’s only a fire sale: most of the machines affected are being withdrawn from marketing. The ones affected are 21 configurations of the Model 30, Model 70, Model P70 portable, Model 90 and Model 95 – but 13 of the 21 are being withdrawn. The biggest cuts are on the P75 portable, which is not being withdrawn: with 160Mb disk, it’s off 33% at $10,650; and on the Model 90 with 80Mb disk, which falls 40.7% to $5,545. PS/2 memory was also slashed, with 4Mb of 80nS memory reduced by 50% to $500.
