Increasingly anxious to get more add-on boards developed for the Micro Channel, IBM has turned to Chips & Technologies Inc to co-develop Bus Master Adaptor chips to provide developers of Micro Channel-compatible add-in boards with a single chip bus interface, and to Intel Corp to enhance Intel’s Micro Channel-compatible building bocks. IBM will provide direction and architectural specifications and the partners will do engineering, production and marketing. Bus Mastering, a major feature of the IBM PS-2 Micro Channel family of personal computers, is the ability for add-in boards to run tasks independently of the main processor.
