The high end laptop being developed for worldwide sale by IBM Japan and previewed here last August (CI No 1,491), is now expected to appear on February 26. Using the 80386SX, it is expected to come with 60Mb disk, black-on-white VGA screen, 2Mb to 18Mb memory and weigh about 6 lbs 10 oz. Price is expected to be $5,000 to $5,500 and IBM is said to be particularly pleased with the no compromises keyboard, but that means it will not be as small as many of its competitors. No word on the 80286-based laptop, also with 60Mb disk, which had been expected to appear at the same time.
