IBM, Dassault Systemes and Cadam Inc are to restructure their computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering development relationships: IBM subsidiary Cadam Inc will focus on desktop systems, while Dassault Systemes, known for its Catia software, will assume responsibility for the Cadam mainframe and workstation products. IBM will acquire a minority equity interest in Dassault Systemes, strengthen the marketing and support of the Dassault Systemes products, and will continue to market the products of both Cadam Inc and Dassault Systemes worldwide. Dassault will establish a new US development and support location in Burbank, California, and both the Catia and Cadam mainframe and workstation products will be placed under common management within Dassault Systemes for unified planning, development, and support.
