AIXWindows Environment/6000 Version 1.2
AIXWindows Environment/6000 Version 1.2 is a graphical user interface environment for the RS/6000 Powerstations and Powerservers using AIX/6000 Version 3.2. It is an enhanced version of AIXwindows Environment/6000 Version 1.1 and AIX Personal graPHIGS/6000 Version 2.2.1. Version 1.2 consists of the the two-dimensional base product and an optional three-dimensional graphics feature called AIXwindows/3D. The base has been enhanced with the addition of X Window support based on X Window System Version 11 Release 4; OSF/Motif 1.1 support; AIXwindows Desktop enhancements; 24-bit colour visual support; Graphics Library interface; Graphical Kernel Systems Compatibility Option; and an initial release of MIT’s PEX support. The AIXwindows application development environment consists of the OSF/Motif user interface toolkit with C, C++ language bindings; the OSF/Motif Xm library; User Interface Language and Motif Resource Manager components; and OSF/Motif examples. Available February 21, basic licences go from $250 to $1,000, and distributed options are between $225 and $900. Basic licences for AIXWindows are from $425 to $1,700, $383 to $1,530 for the distributed option.
AIXWindows Interface Composer/6000
The AIXwindows Interface Composer/6000 is a software development tool for the design and creation of graphical user interfaces for applications using OSF/Motif 1.1. The devel oper uses direct manipulation of the user interface components to design the interface, and the C code for the interface is generated automatically. In addition, there is a built-in C interpreter for testing and debugging the user interface. It runs under AIX Version 3.2 and requires AIXwindows Environment/6000 Version 1.2. It costs $5,000 or $4,500 for a distributed systems licence option.
AIX/6000 Professional Graphics Tool
The AIX/6000 Professional Graphics Tool Collection consists of three licensed programs that provide support for the application development environment and end-user interfaces. AIX Graphics File Translator/6000, AIX Graphics Plotting System/6000 and AIX Computer Graphics Interface Toolkit/6000 Version 1.2. run under AIX Version 3.2. Translator/6000 provides an interactive tool and an application programming interface that enables computer graphics metafile formatted files to be viewed, combined or output to a printer. The interface provides functions to interpret or translate the metafile elements of a formatted file produced by the metafile device driver in AIX CGI Toolkit/6000 Version 1.2. AIX Graphics Plotting System/6000 provides an interface and structure for construction of business graphics and building blocks for chart creation. AIX CGI Toolkit/6000 Version 1.2, which has been enhanced, provides a variety of development tools designed to enhance productivity in an application development environment. Available from February 21 in the US, the AIX Graphics File Translator/6000 goes from $900 to $7,200, distributed licences are between $810 and $6,480. The AIX Graphics Plotting System/6000 costs from $600 to $4,800, $540 to $4,320 for distributed systems. The AIX Computer Graphics Interface Toolkit/6000 Version 1.2 ranges from $653 to $5,235 or from $588 to $4,710 for distributed licence option.
AIX InfoCrafter/6000 batch builder
The InfoCrafter/6000 licensed program is a set of tools that provides a batch-oriented build process for compiling online libraries read by the InfoExplorer information retrieval software. On the authoring side, AIX InfoCrafter/6000 can accept input from the Interleaf, ASCII and FrameMaker 3.0 authoring environments. Support for input from the FrameMaker 3.0 editor will be included via an update to AIX InfoCrafter/6000 on June 19, 1992. A library can be virtually any size and segmented into up to 15 separate information bases. These information bases can contain a variety of hypertext links, and articles in information bases within the same library can be cross-linked. Authors can create navigation documents designed to assist with the retrieval of informati
on. In the Interleaf environment, the user structures the information in Interleaf documents using a catalogue containing pre-defined components specifically designed for the creation of hypertext information. In the Framemaker 3.0 environment, InfoCrafter translates documents saved in Maker Interchange Format to Standard Record Format in order to build the InfoExplorer information base. Support for input from the FrameMaker 3.0 editor will be included via an update to AIX InfoCrafter/6000 and the update will be available to current licensees of AIX InfoCrafter/6000 on June 19, 1992. Available February 21 in the US, AIX InfoCrafter/6000 is $15,000 and the distributed option is $13,500.
AIX/6000 Connectivity Licensed Programs
The AIX/6000 Connectivity Licensed Programs include new releases of AIX 3270 Host Connection Program/6000 Version 1.3; AIX System Network Architecture Services/6000 Version 1.2; AIX 3278/79 Emulation/6000 Version 1.2; and AIX Network Management/6000 Version 1.2. The 3270 Host Connection Program/6000 Version 1.3 provides SNA connection in a Type 2.1 LEN node attachment of 3725/3745, DFT SNA attachment of 3274/3174, or 9370 Workstation Subsystem Controller and TCP/IP Telnet 3270 connection. SNA Services/6000 provides configuration functions and an application programming interface that permits applications to communicate with others residing on other systems, and it provides support for LU6.2 Conversation Security Towers. AIX 3270 Host Connection Program/6000 Version 1.3 uses a menu interface with multiple concurrent connectivity types and national languages. Through the use of AIXwindows Environment/6000, users can access multiple windows and hosts concurrently. The communications platform in AIX 3270 Host Connection Program/6000 has been expanded to support 6098 Graphics Channel Control Unit and also TCP/IP using TELNET 3270 option.
