IBM REORGANIZES AROUND PCs, SERVERS, PERIPHERALS, R&D

By CBR Staff Writer

Following its lackluster second quarter IBM Corp is re-arranging the deck chairs once again, giving former personal systems chief and SVP Bob Stephenson the reigns of the under performing server group and moving former server chief Nick Donofrio into a new outpost which it’s calling SVP technology and manufacturing. Research, manufacturing and procurement will report to Donofrio, who will also oversee how IBM nurtures emerging technologies. IBM PC Co general manager Sam Palmisano becomes SVP of an expanded personal systems group which will include PCs, network computers and consumer operations. Jim Vanderslice, general manager of IBM’s storage systems division gets added responsibility for network hardware and printing systems and wins VP chevrons. Printing Systems previously reported to Stephenson.
