IBM PLUNGES INTO FACILITIES MANAGEMENT WITH KODAK DEAL

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM’s pact with Eastman Kodak Co, mentioned briefly yesterday (CI No 1,227), turns out to be IBM’s first big plunge into facilities management, and as such is likely to send a shiver through the likes of Hoskyns Group Plc here. Effectively, IBM will build, equip and operate a new computer centre at Kodak headquarters in Rochester, New York and will replace four existing centres. IBM will own the centre and will offer jobs at it to about 300 Kodak data processing staff when it is complete in two years. The value and term of the contract were not disclosed, but it is clearly large.
