IBM PLAN MOVE INTO END USER PERIPHERALS

IBM Corp’s IBM Personal Computer Co is moving into the end user peripherals market with products from the Storage Systems Division: called Options by IBM, the line is designed and tested to be compatible with AT and Micro Channel personal computers, and includes accessories, communications and memory devices, multimedia and storage products – the Value Line of disk drives with capacities of 270Mb, 364Mb, 527Mb and 728Mb, cartridge tape drives, and PCMCIA devices, available via remarketers or direct from IBM; they will be available to customers served by commercial distributors of computer systems, but IBM will not offer them at the retail level.
