IBM PICKS RUTHERFORD FOR A SUPERCOMPUTER BASE

IBM Europe has chosen the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire to be another of its five major centres for supercomputer research under the $40m two-year plan launched last November (CI No 818). IBM will install a 3090-600E with six Vector Facilities at the lab in partnership with the UK Science & Engineering Research Council to investigate the feasibility of using the 600E in fundamental research.
