IBM PERSONAL AIMED AT SCHOOLS EXPECTED “IN A FEW WEEKS”

By CBR Staff Writer

Gossip about that bottom end IBM Personal aimed at the educational market has resurfaced, and US observers are again looking for the machine in a few weeks: the argument for it is that IBM can’t afford to give the schools market away and the PS/2 Model 30 is too pricey at $1,695 without a screen; the machine was last expected for January, at which time its anticipated spec was pretty much the same as what came out as the Model 30; it is now expected to use the 8088 and include VDU for $1,000 or so.
