The IBM Personal Computer Co also says that while it is continuing to grow unit sales faster than the industry, it is still facing a problem in meeting customer demand for its products: it says it thinks it can solve its backlog problems by the end of the year, but that it is finding it difficult to anticipate customer demand accurately; the unit’s chief, Robert Corrigan, says that it has turned profitable in the last two quarters, but it is not clear how IBM overheads are allocated to the new business units; Corrigan declined to give further details on profitability of the unit or break out its revenues.
