IBM’s plans, revealed in February, for a 2 Winchester storing 50Mb to 60Mb for lap-top computers – and suggested for 1989 (CI No 873), are not spurring specialist disk drive makers to rush anything to market. A ring round by Computer Systems News found that most were playing with a 2 form factor but were content to let IBM set the standard.
