IBM NEGOTIATES TO WIN BACK ITS SOUTH AFRICAN ESTATES

Now that foreign investment is being welcomed with open arms by the less extreme members of the African National Congress, IBM Corp wants to get back its lost empire in South Africa, which it handed to local interests for safe keeping in 1987. It is in talks with its local distributor, Information Services Group Holdings Ltd – actually the old IBM South Africa in a locally-owned guise. We are in negotiations with IBM, but they’re at an advanced and sensitive stage and to say more than that would put them in jeopardy, Information Services Group told Dow Jones & Co.
