IBM MOVES TO FOURTH PLACE IN FORTUNE 500 LIST

1986 may have been a truly rotten year for IBM, but all may not be lost after all: it may have been bad for IBM, but it was even worse for the oil majors, with the result that IBM actually moved up a place in the Fortune 500 list to fourth, its highest ever; acquiring RCA moved GE into sixth place from 10.
