IBM, MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL TO PROVIDE A NEW STATISTICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM is going to the ballgame – the company and Major League Baseball have joined forces to provide a new statistical information system that aims to offer an improved data service to media, clubs and fans: the League’s System/38 – based at its New York headquarters – will host a database containing up-to-the minute match and team information, together with several new applications; the team hopes the service will replace existing manual methods of baseball data analysis.
