IBM LOSES CHINESE BUSINESS TO RIVALS HP AND LEGEND

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM Corp is apparently losing its grip on the booming Chinese personal computer market, while at the same time gaining momentum in the shrinking Korean market. It is thought the company’s fall in popularity in China is down to the increasing popularity of rivals Hewlett Packard Co and local company Legend Holdings Ltd who both saw sales rise by around 60% in the first quarter of the year. Last year IBM was said to be the most popular non-Asian company in Asia’s $42bn PC market, and the third largest PC seller throughout the continent.
