IBM LOGO TURNS UP ON THE TV SCREENS

And this side of the water, competition to publicise your machines by getting them used to present sports results on television is becoming cut-throat, and IBM, which used to stand aloof from what it clearly regarded as the fun-and-games end of the promotional business, these days fights its corner with the best of them: thus it was that the IBM logo turned up on TV screens all over Europe this weekend, alongside the results from the European Indoor Athletics Championships held in Budapest, Hungary – and it wasn’t just one Personal Computer either – a System 36 and a horde of Personals were enlisted.
