IBM LICENSES DRDA SOURCE, OBJECT CODE TO STARQUEST

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM Corp announces this week that it has licensed the source and object code of its DRDA Distributed Relational Database Architecture application server software to StarQuest Inc, which will develop data access and data sharing applications for DB2 and license the code to third parties. Berkeley, California-based StarQuest, a data communications software developer that specializes in connecting IBM mainframes to personal computer and Unix systems, has exclusive rights to the code and will also hand support of existing customers over to StarQuest. StarQuest changed its name from StarWare Inc in May (CI No 2,937). Its flagship product, StarSQL Pro is an Open DataBase Connectivity-to-Distributed Relational Database Architecture driver for remote access to DB2, mid-range or Unix systems from personal computers.
