The center will provide a range of services such as customer relationship management, human resources, finance and accounting, supply chain management and procurement. The current staff of 20 should grow to 100 by year’s end and could reach 1000 in ten years.

The Brisbane operation will be part of IBM’s global network of more than 24 outsourcing centers. The area’s mix of languages will help the new center target businesses throughout the Asia Pacific region, according to an IBM release.

Last year IBM exported AUD$650m (US$481.4m) worth of business from Australia.
