According to IBM, new version of the Lotus Sametime Standard features expanded platform support for Lotus Domino 8 server, server support for VMWare environments and mobile support, including the Nokia E-series, Sony Ericsson and Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 devices. It also offers new point to point video capabilities for Macintosh users and integration with Microsoft Office 2007.

The software includes unified communication and collaboration capabilities with VoIP, web and video conferencing capabilities, mobile client support and a model for custom application plug-ins.

The company said that the Lotus Sametime Entry software provides real-time collaboration capabilities featuring instant messaging capabilities, multi-person chat, presence awareness, spell check, rich text capabilities, emoticon support, contact list management features and chat history capabilities. Additionally, the software supports multiple servers and operating systems.

The software caters to Microsoft Outlook users and small to medium-sized businesses and will be available from December 3 2007.
